McCallum's top-ten finish gives Rapha road race title

Edinburgh cyclist James McCallum finished eighth in the final race of the Halfords Tour Series at Canary Wharf in London last night to help his Rapha Condor-Sharp team to the overall title.

The Endura Racing Team from West Lothian finished second overall after recovering from a disappointing start to the series to battle back into contention. However, they were unable to bridge the six-point gap to their rivals in the closing race.

Scott Thwaites was again the top performer for Endura. The 21-year-old from Yorkshire was in a five-man break that remained clear of the field at the bell.

And although he was outsprinted by Ian McEvoy (Motorpoint) and Dean Downing (Rapha Condor-Sharp), third-placed Thwaites could look back on a fine contribution to his team's effort, with seven top-ten finishes in the eight races. Paul Voss was the second Endura rider in sixth, with Ian Wilkinson ninth.

That left them second behind Motorpoint on the night with Rapha third.
