McCall happy with squad

Motherwell manager Stuart McCall will opt for quality over quantity as he continues to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.

The Steelmen boss has already recruited the services of striker Michael Higdon and expects to unveil Nicky Law on Friday when the midfielder's contract at Rotherham expires. He is then hoping to secure Gavin Gunning on a second loan spell from Blackburn and expects his work in the transfer market to be complete if he succeeds in capturing the defender.

McCall said: "We have managed to keep most of our squad together and intact, which I'm pleased about. This season, it's probably not going to be a squad with quantity but hopefully it will have quality.

"When you go that way, you've got to be lucky with injuries but we are pleased with the squad that we've got."
