Macniven Cup

THE winner of this year's Lothians Seniors at Uphall on July 4 will receive a new trophy in memory of Ian Macniven, the late golf correspondent of the Evening News.

"We tried a couple of ideas to run a tournament in Ian's recognition but they did not appeal to the people they were aimed at," said Lothians president Denys Flaherty. "Given that Ian was probably best known among the older players in the area, we thought it was more suitable to put up the trophy for the Lothians Seniors and hopefully this decision means his name will be fondly remembered."
