Lyon squeeze into last four

LYON reached the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in their history despite losing 1-0 in Bordeaux.

Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh scored right on half time but Lyon held on to win 3-2 on aggregate. The Morocco international slid home a cross from Benoit Tremoulinas. But Bordeaux couldn't score again to win on away goals, with Lyon keeper Hugo Lloris making a crucial save in the 87th minute when he palmed away a header from Brazilian Geraldo Wendel.

Lyon will now play Bayern Munich in the last four.

"It was not easy," Lyon coach Claude Puel said. "Even though we told ourselves that we should play as if it was 0-0 in the first leg, we felt a bit pressure.

"We were too much on the back foot in the first half. We handled better the second half."
