Loretto pupils tee up more success

Loretto School's golfers have been busy of late. As well as winning the prestigious Independent Schools Golf Association Championship in London, as reported in The Scotsman last week, pupils have also been playing in two other big events.

The Loretto Golf Academy was invited to send four players to compete in an event in Ayrshire - the Hildon Golf Challenge at Dundonald Links - organised by Jamie Samson. Timon Sitte was a member of the victorious team, Clara Schwabe returned the lowest gross score and Warren Bynoe won longest drive. Matthew Duncan made up the quartet.

Meanwhile, mainly third and fourth-form pupils travelled to South Africa for the World Schools' Championships, with Freidrike Bernsau winning her handicap and age category.
