Loretto impress but fall narrowly short

GOLF: Loretto hosted the third round of the College Tour at Craigielaw last week.

On a day that felt like summer with warm weather and no wind, the conditions were perfect for scoring.

The Loretto players performed extremely well with Ben Skinner, Peter Templeton and Alexander Wilson all shooting 70 (one under par). With the addition of Warren Bynoe’s 73, this gave the A team a total of one under par which was an excellent result.

For the second week running this was to prove one shot too many, as Elmwood A also had several players under par for a team total of two under par to take the gross event.

The Loretto B team also performed well with Adrian Wegner and Noel Anderson both shooting three-over-par 74s, the latter winning the low net with a 64.

The A team won the handicap event by two shots to extend their lead at the top of the league, with the B Team finishing fourth.
