P J McDonald was on board first leg Bunce as the combination scrambled home by a nose from Fredricka in the Weatherbys Private Banking Handicap.
He said: “I had to switch wide up the centre of the track and he would have been an unlucky loser. Linda’s horses are in grand nick at the moment, particularly the sprinters.”
Connor Beasley rode Jammy Moment and Findog to victory and Ken McGarrity, who owns both horses, said: “This trip of seven furlongs suits Findog better as he’s been struggling to keep up in sprint races. I well remember back in 2010 I had a double when Silver Rime and Wicked Daze won within about 40 minutes of each other at Newcastle and York.”
Alistair Whillans-trained Ralphy Boy sealed a double for McDonald when pipping Regal Dan by a nose in the Weatherbys Bank Handicap. He added: “This horse seems to come to hand at this time of year and I didn’t know if I’d won or not as I had my head down driving away and didn’t look across.”
