Leeds Carnegie 31 - 16 Currie: Depleted Currie put up battling display

Currie kicked off their British and Irish Cup campaign with a spirited performance at Leeds Carnegie, and with four props injured were forced to borrow a prop from each of Heriots and Dundee.

Leeds opened the scoring when Georgiou collected from Ford to go over. Ford, however, missed the conversion leaving the score 5-0.

Minutes later Currie got their first points with a penalty from Forbes.Then Leeds had a penalty but Ford missed and they were left to rue this when they were penalised for offside and Forbes put Currie 6-5 ahead.

However, Leeds continued to dominate and a try on 29 minutes by Freer with Ford converting gave Leeds a 12-6 half time lead.

Forbes got it back to 12-9 but Leeds then scored the game changing try through Hemingway followed by two more tries inside ten minutes. A final try by Currie’s Fife, converted by Forbes, made the final score 31-16.
