Last-gasp despair for London Scottish

CHAMPIONSHIP: London Scottish suffered a heart-breaking 19-17 defeat away to Leeds Carnegie yesterday, going down to the last kick of the match.

Leeds were favourites going into the match, but Scottish led 11-10 at half-time through a charge-down try by Dan Mugford and two penalties by the same player. Two further Mugford penalties in the second half looked to have secured a valuable result for the exiles, until Leeds full-back Tommy Bell snatched victory at the death.

The home side’s points all came from Bell, with a try, a conversion and four penalties.

Scottish can take heart from their very encouraging performance, coming just a week after their Boxing Day win away to Moseley, but they need to pick up more points in the coming weeks to pull away from the relegation zone.
