Lasswade 17 - 7 Greenock Wanderers: Lasswade edge out Greenock

GREENOCK'S double hopes were dashed as Lasswade edged the Shield Final.

The Wanderers had beaten Lasswade to the Scottish Hydro National 2 championship, but the Midlothian side made sure of some silverware by outsmarting Greenock.

Lasswade looked like they might run away with it after a bright start but after Kiwi stand-off Carl McWilliam had put them 3-0 ahead, Greenock revealed their attacking strength with a fine sweeping counter-attack launched by skipper David Watson and finished by Antony Devlin.

McWilliam gradually pulled Lasswade back into the lead with penalties either side of half-time and winger Kyle Smith settled the match just before the hour, first denying Watson with a try-saving tackle before notching a score himself. McWilliam added a penalty at the end to confirm the victory.
