Following rounds of 69 and 70 for a seven-under-par total, the 30-year-old Scot is sitting fourth, four shots off the lead, in the tri-sanctioned event involving European, Chinese and Korean circuit players.

“It was quite an up-and-down second round with a lot of birdies, also an eagle at the sixth, where I hit two 3-woods and holed a 15-footer, and a few bogeys, but I’m happy with my game,” said Henry, who backed up a career-best effort of taking just 24 putts in the first round by having 27 on this occasion.

It was as Kylie Walker – she married European Tour player Scott Henry at the end of last year – that the Scot won twice in 2014, claiming the Deloitte Ladies Open in the Netherlands and the Ladies German Open in the space of two months.

Now she is “excited” to be chasing another success, having clearly benefited from spending some time playing in events in South Africa recently in the build-up to this tournament.

“It’s nice to be on the leaderboard,” Henry said. “I’m happy to be in the position that I’m in. I’ll try to play well again and do the best that I possibly can. There are always nerves, but usually it’s good ones, so I’ll use those to perform well.

“I’m really enjoying married life and getting used to the name change. I’m off on honeymoon straight after this to Ko Samui in Thailand, so it would be great to leave here with a victory.”

Sitting on 11-under, Korea’s Hae Rym Kim held a one-shot lead over compatriot Seon Woo Bae, who still has a hole to play, when play was suspended for the day due to bad weather. England’s Georgina Hall, the overnight leader, is third on eight-under.

On two-over, Vikki Laing will resume her second round sitting two shots inside the projected cut, but Kelsey Macdonald and Pamela Pretswell are both heading for early exits on eight and nine-over respectively.
