Kirkliston hope to be record hit in challenge for Top Ten

It’s the final day’s play in Inter County Top Ten Tournament at Colinton BC tomorrow and West Lothian champions Kirkliston are bidding to win the title for a record fourth time.

The defending champions open against their Borders counterparts Chirnside in the semi-finals of the the Co-operative Funeralcare-sponsored event while Inverkeithing of West Fife and Castle Douglas of The Stewartry are the other challengers fight for a place in the final.

The Logan clan figure prominently in the Kirkliston Top Ten with Raymond playing the spearhead role in the Singles while his son Calum is sandwiched by Mark Allison and John Aitken in the Triples.

Raymond’s brother Gordon – the Scotland Team Manager – plays second to his sons Greg and Grant in the Fours with Andrew Suddon at lead while Steven Forrest and Neil Speirs form the Pairs. The spearhead matches feature Raymond Logan versus 1994 national junior singles champion Robert Paterson, and Graeme Maxwell of Castle Douglas versus David Junor.

Meanwhile Edinburgh & Leith face a major test to their East section qualifying ambitions when they face a rejuvenated East Lothian at The Northern BC this afternoon.

Colin Hutchison returns and Kevin Hunter is recalled with Craig Paterson standing down and Ian Paterson unavailable while EL stay faithful to the team that broke their duck against West Fife last weekend.

Edinburgh & Leith’s Under 25 brigade lost out on four of its six rinks but still managed to escape with a thrilling 118-116 victory over East Lothian at ELCO that keeps them at the head of the East section table of the Scottish League Cup.
