Kenny Miller has point to prove says Rangers boss Graeme Murty

Interim Rangers boss Graeme Murty has challenged Kenny Miller to prove a point after bringing him back into the team against Hearts and handing him the captain's armband.

The 37-year-old was frozen out under Pedro Caixinha after speculation that the forward was leaking information to the press.

However, he has been brought back into the fold and leads the attack with Alfredo Morelos.

Murty told Sky Sports: “It’s good for me because he knows how I like to play. It’s good for him because I think he may have a point to prove which is always good in any footballer, but for the team he needs to fit in, work hard and he needs to go and contribute towards a very, very good team performance.

“My only aim for that is a to make sure we go and put in a good performance and win the game.”

Murty enthused about Miller’s attitude with the hope it feeds into the team.

“I see the way the guy trains,” he said, “I see his enthusiasm, I see that he may have a little bit of an edge about him as well which is good but more than anything else he knows how I like the game to be played and he is a leader on and off the pitch. We need to make sure we harness that in a positive way.”
