Kenny Anderson KOs David claims of easy fight

CAPITAL super-middleweight contender Kenny Anderson has hit back at claims by his next opponent that he's "one dimensional" and ripe for a knockout.

The city boxer, who takes on Paul David at the St Andrew's Sporting Club staged at the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow on Monday night said: "David has been quoted as calling me a crude slugger but he's going to find out that I am an accomplished technical boxer to if I have to be.

"His claim that he is coming to knock me out is just plain daft – I would love him to trade toe-to-toe with me – that's my game."

Commonwealth gold medallist Anderson, the current Celtic champion, is fired up for the British title eliminator and dismissed claims by David's coach Brendan Ingle that his sparring with three world champions – Carl Froch, Silvano Brasconi and German-based Russian Robert Steiglitz would give him a massive advantage.

Anderson said: "None of these guys have a style like mine so a fat lot of good that is going to do him, although at least it shows he is taking me seriously."

The ten-round Anderson versus David fight will be historic as it will be the last British title eliminator or title fight solely decided by the scoring of the referee.

From 19 January onwards, all such bouts will be decided by three ringside judges.

Meanwhile, former WBO super-featherweight champion Alex Arthur says he is delighted his manager Frank Warren has told him his next fight date.

Arthur said: "I will be boxing at lightweight on a show in the first weekend in April. That gives me the time I need to recover from my cut from my last fight and also to get down to lightweight. No further details are yet available but I hope to box a ten-rounder for a Continental title."
