Judo: Tough nut puts Frank in a fix

Edinburgh judo veteran Frank Taylor may reconsider his decision to retire after missing out on another Masters medal at the Commonwealth Judo Championships in Cardiff yesterday.

The 49-year-old had hoped to bow out in style by going one better than his 2006 silver in the over-100kg heavyweight category, but a cruel opening draw ruined his chances at the Millennium Centre.

Taylor was paired with world champion Nick Kokotaylo from Manchester and the Edinburgh Club coach admitted: “That draw was a nightmare. I didn’t want him in my first fight – he’s such a tough, tough man.”
