Judo: Conway puts up good fight

Sally CONWAY overshadowed her on-form Edinburgh club-mate Sarah Adlington at the World Judo Cup in Warsaw yesterday.

Adlington bowed out in the first round to Brazil’s Maria Altheman yesterday while Conway beat New Zealand’s Moira De Villiers, American Sam Bleier and the Netherlands Linda Bolder to reach the Pool A final in the 70kg category where she was beaten by eventual bronze medallist Ye-Sul Hwang from South Korea.

Edinburgh’s James Miller lost his opening 60kg bout at the men’s World Cup in Prague.
