John Potter joins Dunfermline on one-year deal

Dunfermline manager Jim McIntyre is set to unveil John Potter as his fifth summer signing today after agreeing a one-year deal with the defender. The 31-year-old will complete a move back to his hometown club from St Mirren, subject to passing a medical.

Potter, who captained the Buddies, played for the Pars for three years until 2002 when he switched to Clyde.

The centre-half joins Kevin Rutkiewicz, Paul Burns, Paddy Boyle and Paul Gallacher as the Fife outfit's new recruits. McIntyre, who was at the Euro Under-21 Championships in Denmark last week as part of his UEFA Pro Licence course, said: "I am really pleased to bring in someone with great experience and a proven Premier League player.

"He was captain of St Mirren for the last three seasons and he is a real leader on the park. He joins us on a one-year deal."
