The NAC Breda skipper and Dutch B cap became the Easter Road side's first summer recruit when he agreed a two-year deal on Tuesday and has been hailed by Hughes as a "real gem" of a signing.
Former Aberdeen full-back Michael Hart has been strongly linked with a return to the SPL with Hibs and Burton O'Brien is understood to have held talks over a move from Falkirk. However, Hughes is keen to ensure any further recruits fit his template for strengthening his pool.
