Jets tame Bengals to progress in play-offs

GRIDIRON: The New York Jets continued their unlikely run towards the Super Bowl as they beat the Cincinnati Bengals 24-14 away in the first round of the National Football League play-offs on Saturday.

The Jets, with first-year head coach Rex Ryan and rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez, had crept into post-season with a 9-7 record.

The Dallas Cowboys cruised into the next round with 34-14 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Texas.
