James Morrison to face censure for Twitter remarks

ROSS Fisher was not the only player in trouble with the European Tour at the Wales Open. His fellow Surrey golfer, James Morrison, the 27-year-old who led the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth last week, faces a fine for comments made on Twitter.

After his third round, Morrison said: “Thanks Celtic Manor. Dump. One more round then can’t get over that bridge quick enough.”

He apologised after finishing the tournament in 57th place yesterday, saying: “Celtic Manor do a great job for our tour and have a great venue. The players are very grateful for all the support. Very sorry for comment. I really want to apologise. I was very hot when I finished and didn’t mean it in that context. Sorry to all.”

Tournament director Mike Stewart said: “The European Tour will be taking disciplinary action against the player.”
