Speaking to Sky Sports show SPFL Matters, Brown opened up about the issues the team had under the Norwegian, namely that there were problems with how the team prepared physically and how it negatively impacted performances.

Brown himself suffered from an array of injuries and niggles which led to a drop in level and questions about his future at the top level.

“It was a bit of everything,” Brown said. “When you look at training now and look at training then it’s night and day. It’s different philosophies, different ways. Ronny wanted us to have rest so you were fit for the game on Saturday while this manager wants us to work hard so we are ready to go on the Saturday.

“For me, I need to work hard all week so that I know what I am doing in the games and the way I am going to play and press people, show for angles. You’ve got to be fit to do that. Some of the lads it comes natural but I need to work hard in training.”

Brown recognised that the team did well under Deila to a point, but weren’t able to control games the way they team has under Rodgers.

“I think the first 65-70 minutes we were doing okay but we probably weren’t working as hard as we could have done in training,” explained the Celtic captain. “The games where we were winning 1-0 at Celtic Park you usually think that’s it done and dusted you can shut up shop, we can keep the ball, make it hard but we were attacking and were struggling to get back as a team; big holes, big gaps and we lost a few late goals.

“Ronny left and we got a new manager in and we changed the way we play, changed our style as well, we’ve got a few different formations.”
