Inverleith fear for semi-final

INVERLEITH have expressed their frustration after Scottish Hockey bosses threw out their plea for a new date for Saturday’s Scottish Cup semi-final.

Coach Steve McCurry is now trying to find 11 players to square up to Grove Menzieshill and the playcaller declared: “We hope to have a full team.”

Fed-up McCurry is asking for an earlier time than noon at Peffermill on Saturday so that some of his players can attend a wedding.

McCurry said: “We are very frustrated that Scottish Hockey are making us play this game as is it their mistake with the fixtures calendar.

“I’ve spoken with [Grove Menzieshill coach] Chris Anderson about moving the fixture to another date but this is not possible.

“As it stands, we are trying to bring the time of the fixture forward in order that some of the players attending a wedding later that day may be able to play.

“However, we still have a number of players away this weekend because it was down on the original fixtures calendar as a free weekend.”
