Inveraray confident of bouncing back in cup

sHINTY: A LAST-MINUTE wonder strike by Inveraray’s Chris Crawford secured a 2-1 victory to knock Kyles out of the Macaulay Cup.

Inveraray now fancy their chances of making it all the way to the final in Oban, and forward Garry Macpherson thinks opponents may rue the day they said Inveraray were a spent force.

“Last season, by our standards, was very disappointing but that made people write us off. But Newtonmore are out of the competition now and it is there for the taking. If we win next week, which will not be easy, that will really set our season up.”

Last season’s finalists Newtonmore fell 2-1 to Kinlochshiel while Kingussie edged a ten-goal thriller against Lochaber 6-4 at Spean Bridge.
