Schools equestrian: Awards galore as Strathallan enjoy the ride at Gleneagles

Strathallan pupils were in great form at the annual Kilgraston Scottish Schools Equestrian Championships held at Gleneagles.

In the junior section, Ella England won the award for best rider in dressage and combined dressage and show jumping, while Connie Snowie won best rider in both events for the senior section and Iona Wilson rode an impressive round to win the individual title for best show jumper in the intermediate section.

In the team competition, the Strathallan senior team of Emma Cheape, Connie Snowie, Annabel Wilson and Callum Fletcher won the team show jumping.

The intermediate team – Jessica England, Charlotte Stephenson, Georgia Laird and Iona Wilson – also won the team show jumping and were placed third overall. The junior team – Ella England, Shannon Pook and Rowan Laird – were third in the team dressage.

“It is quite an achievement to get such impressive results across the board at a national event. They are a very dedicated group of riders and I am proud of them,” said Strathallan’s equestrian team organiser, Julie Summersgill.
