Ice Hockey: Raptors so close to title

Edinburgh’s Under-16 ice hockey team, the Murrayfield Raptors, are one point away from clinching the Scottish League title.

They need only avoid defeat in their final game of the season tomorrow afternoon, when they face second-placed Dundee Stars at Murrayfield ice rink (12.15pm).

Raptors’s coach John Fairley said: “You have to go back to the 1980s for the last time an Edinburgh team won the Scottish title at this age group. We’re hoping for a decent crowd to come and give the boys some support. We’ll be going for the win.”
