Horse Racing: Iron Condor in excellent heart for Sunbury track glory

Kempton keep the flag flying for racing with another all-weather card and Iron Condor is taken to land another victory at the Sunbury track.

James Eustace's charge is in excellent heart, although he is not a totally consistent performer.

The three-year-old was a winner at this track in September but then he ran a shocker back on the turf at Goodwood, finishing a distant sixth. Back on the sand the next time though, Iron Condor regained the winning thread, defying a 5lb higher mark to emerge nearly two lengths clear.

That victory cost him a further 4lb rise but he showed he is more than capable of dealing with that mark last week as he claimed a narrow second behind Spensley, who looks a really decent type.

There does not appear to be another horse of that calibre in the digibet Casino Handicap, so Iron Condor could make it a third win of the year.

Muntasib returned from a break in a blaze of glory at Lingfield last month and he can strike again in the digibet Nursery. Two runs in August yielded a second and a fifth so Marcus Tregoning decided to have a couple of weeks off with this son of Mr Greeley. He duly returned to make a first start on the all-weather and while he won just an average maiden, the second had some smart form further back in the book.

Muntasib looked the type to keep improving with experience and his initial mark of 80 looks workable at this stage. Vhujon may not have won on the all-weather for well over two years, but his time is surely near after some good efforts in defeat. While out of luck on the all-weather, the five-year-old did score twice on the turf during the summer and has turned in a string of creditable efforts since.

Beaten just a length at Lingfield last week, the return to six furlongs in the Kia Sportage Handicap should aid his cause.

KEMPTON: 3.50 Devon Diva, 4.20 Skeleton, 4.50 Handsome King, 5.20 Muntasib, 5.50 IRON CONDOR (NAP), 6.20 Vhujon, 6.50 Lake Chini, 7.20 Liberty Trail.
