Horse Racing: Dani's Girl can continue to defy the handicapper at Kempton Park

ALL-WEATHER racing is this week doing a great job in keeping the show on the road and punters with the chance of a few winners, with Dani's Girl the headline act at Kempton, writes NICK ROBSON.

Pat Phelan's seven-year-old has been a massive improver over hurdles this season, but she also showed new-found enthusiasm in a recent outing on the level.

Her career looked to be going nowhere for Pat Fahy in Ireland but it has really taken off since her move to England. She bolted up at Huntingdon in October off a lowly mark off 107 and a 9lb rise for a three-length success looked fair.

It failed to stop her, though, as she hacked up off her new rating in a competitive little race at Ascot, which forced the handicapper to put another 8lb on her back for her next race.

Connections probably cannot have believed Dani's Girl would have been running in the Gerry Feilden at the start of the season, but that was her next engagement and she was not disgraced at all in finishing fifth behind Nicky Henderson's Fairyland on ground softer than ideal.

Phelan then ran her at Kempton last week, where she notched up her first victory on the level since August 2006. Her trainer has obviously found the key to her, and the 6lb penalty she is forced to carry in the Bet Asian Handicaps – Betdaq handicap might not be enough.

Another who may be able to defy a penalty is Peter Hedger's Lisahane Bog, who scraped home at Wolverhampton on Monday.

He may have only got home beneath the shadow of the post but that was his fourth win in a row, showing he remains on an upward curve.

The slow gallop was not to his liking earlier in the week and a truer test may just enable him to scramble home again.

There is definitely a race to be won with Torres Del Paine on the evidence of his three races to date and trainer Jimmy Fox will have to go a long way to find a weaker race than the Bet Masters Snooker – Betdaq Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

The Compton Place colt appears to face only one realistic rival and chased home an odds-on hotpot last time. Hopes will be high he can go one better.

Alan McCabe is one of the better trainers on the all-weather and must have high hopes of Lord Victor following up a recent win in very similar conditions at Southwell.

His main rival, Angie's Nap, is only 1lb better off for a convincing victory and that does not look enough to turn the form round in the betdaqextra.com Claiming Stakes.

He may have just turned 13, but Milton Bradley's The Tatling is still as enthusiastic as ever and should go well again in the Happy 58th Birthday Richard Archer Handicap.

His last run was his best for some time.
