Home comforts beckon for Oban

SHINTY: Oban Camanachd have some added incentive to get through today’s Camanachd Cup preliminary round with the news the 2012 final is to be staged in the town.

Oban endured their lowest point last term when they were relegated from shinty’s top flight for the first time in their history.

However, Diarmid MacMillan’s side have enjoyed an undefeated opening to the South Division One campaign.

And they will be looking to edge into the first round of shinty’s most major competition today against Glenorchy, with Mossfield Park set to host the final which will be televised by the BBC.

The Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup final was last staged in Oban in 2009.
