RELEGATION-THREATENED Inverleith were left fuming when their crucial hockey league clash with Paisley-based Kelburne Ladies was postponed at the last minute.
The Edinburgh club travelled to Park Mains High School, Erskine, on Saturday for the final league game of their first season.
Tenth-placed Inverleith were looking for a 4-0 victory over Kelburne, who are sixth, to take them off the bottom of the ten-strong table.
However, match officials could not allow the game to go ahead because of the condition of the goals.
Now the Inverleith squad will have to wait to see if they will be awarded the game 5-0 or it has to be replayed.
One player, who declined to be named, said: “It was really disappointing. We were all up for this as we want to stay in the top league and this happened.”
