Hockey: Wolski in fitness race as Inverleith bid to regain title

TITLE hopefuls Inverleith face an anxious wait to see if new star Fabian Wolski will be fit for their bid to regain the Division One indoor hockey title they won for the first time two seasons ago. Wolski played for German cracks Uhlenhorster when they won the national indoor title and may train tonight.

The tough-as-teak defender hurt his ankle and was sidelined for Inverleith’s final games before the winter closedown outdoors. Wolski, an international marketing student at Heriot-Watt University, is keen to play and will, if fit, lead the attack against Clydesdale and Western at Perth on Saturday.

Stuart Neave, Inverleith’s coach, guided his side to second place behind Grove Menzieshill last season – they lost out narrowly on goal difference – and said: “Fabian has played at a really high level in Germany and so he will be valuable to us if he is fit to play.”
