Hockey: Wiped out by weather

For the first time since the inception of the Subway indoor national league in 1985 the entire men's programme of 36 games was wiped out yesterday by the recent Arctic conditions.

The women's league, due to be played today, has also now fallen victim. "Efforts will be made to reschedule matches but the time and availability of venues is limited," said Bill Garland, Competitions Committee convener.
