Hockey: Vikki Bunce leads Scots in GB trip to USA

VWS Dundee Wanderers’ playmaker Vikki Bunce and Anglos Laura Bartlett, Emily Maguire and goalkeeper Abi Walker are the four Scots selected in a 24-player Great Britain squad for a trip to San Diego next month.

GB coach Danny Kerry will run his eye over his Olympic hopefuls in a two-week training camp and also in five test matches against the USA.

The Americans will be an interesting opponent for Kerry’s charges. They are listed tenth in the world rankings and have already qualified for the London Olympics following a shock 4-2 victory over favourites Argentina in the final of the Pan American Games. Earlier in the year USA played Scotland twice in the Champions Challenge in Dublin, the Scots won the pool match 3-1, but then lost 3-0 in the semi-finals.
