Hockey: Sully back with bang as Grange make Scottish Cup showpiece

COMEBACK man Phil Sully claimed a brace as Grange completed a double of wins at the weekend by marching into the final of hockey’s Scottish Cup.

Sully, who has been sidelined recently with a back injury, opened the scoring after five minutes and scored the game-winner 12 minutes from time in a 3-2 success over plucky city rivals Inverleith.

Cammy Fraser grabbed Grange’s other goal. The Capital outfit will meet Kelburne in the final.

Grange went into their semi-final on the back of a 3-1 victory at newly-crowned Division One champions Kelburne on Saturday, as Fraser claming a double and Rob Barr added a single from a penalty corner.

CALA Edinburgh, meanwhile, crashed 7-2 at home to Clydesdale and now face a play-off –almost certainly against near neighbours Watsonians – to preserve their status in Scotland’s top league. CALA coach Neil Allan, who saw David Patterson score twice for his side, declared: “The players have got ourselves into this situation and they now have to dig themselves out of it. However, they are all determined to try and stay in Division One.”
