Hockey: Students safe from the drop

DAVID FORRESTER produced a quality stop last night to deny already-relegated Watsonians and finally end Edinburgh University's drop fears from hockey's Division 1B.

His point-blank save with seconds remaining of the clash at Mary Erskine sealed a 2-1 victory ahead of Saturday's home clash with Aberdeen.

If the students win, they could still top the table following the mid-season split.

And coach Graham Moodie said: "We're safe and that's a relief. It was a big game for us and it was a bit scrappy. However, we targeted a win and we got the result we wanted."
