Hockey: Stuart between the posts as Dick misses key Inverleith clash

INVERLEITH have suffered a blow on the eve of the final round of matches to decide the Scottish indoor hockey title.

The defending champions will be minus London-based Scottish international goalkeeper Allan Dick following the refusal of his English-based club side, Holcombe, to release him.

After failing in an appeal to the Kent-based club, the Edinburgh side now go into their make-or-break double-header against city rivals Grange and long-time Division One pace-setters Grove Menzieshill with experienced Graham Stuart between the posts.

Grove play second-bottom Clydesdale in their second last league game which goes on court ahead of Inverleith’s clash with Grange. The pair then square up at around 5pm at Perth tomorrow.
