Hockey: Scots suffer in final warm-up games

Scotland Girls' Under-16s are eagerly waiting to hear who has been selected for the Four Nations event in Manheimmer, Germany which takes place from 10-13 June.

The girls had their final warm-up matches before the big event against England in Glasgow on Sunday and yesterday and the coaching panel used the matches to have one last look at players.

The Scots, who had lost 4-0 on Sunday, suffered another defeat yesterday, losing 3-0 at Bellahouston. They were on the back foot within four minutes when Lily Elliot fired the English into an early lead and further goals from Chloe McIntosh and Fran Ruffel sealed the win.

The boys' team at under-16 level had lost 6-1 to their English counterparts at the weekend and followed up with another heavy defeat yesterday, losing 8-1. Tom Alsop scored a hat-trick for England, Elliot Smith and Oliver Ashdown both scored two, while James Simpson was also on target. Watsonians' Andrew Oliphant scored the only goal for the Scottish boys, who have the UK Schools Games in September.
