Hockey: No medals but Scots stay up

SCOTLAND avoided relegation from the EuroHockey Nations Trophy thanks to a two-goal victory over Portugal in Poland.

The Scots, who failed to qualify for the medal group on goal difference, eased the pressure with a 5-2 victory over fellow-strugglers Belarus in Poznan on Saturday night after leading 2-1 at the break.

Sunday's welcome win over Portugal was set up by a 3-1 half-time scoreline and coach Russell Garcia's men kept their nerve to end up 5-3 winners.
