Hockey: Highland Jaguars hit for six by Welsh outfit

SCOTLAND'S under-21 side, masquerading as the Highland Jaguars, finished third in the Great Britain Super League despite losing 6-3 to Welsh outfit Celtic Panthers yesterday.

The young Jaguars were two behind after only five minutes, but two goals from Josh Cairns and one from Kenny Bain kept them in contention. The Welsh side proved too strong in the end, although the score-line flattered them.

The Jaguars did finish a point ahead of the Caledonian Cougars, the other Scottish side in the competition, who fought out a 1-1 draw with English outfit Saxon Tigers.

On Saturday the Jaguars lost 4-2 to the Pennine Pumas, Nicky Parkes and Kenny Bain getting the goals for the Scots youngsters. But the Cougars recorded their first victory by beating the Celtic Panthers 2-0 with Cammie Fraser and Adam McKenzie on target.

But the feat of the day must go to CALA Edinburgh striker David Guy who scored all the goals in his side's 6-1 drubbing of Greenock, taking his total to 42 for the season.
