Hockey: Highland Jaguars are on the prowl at Peffermill

Scotland's under-21 side, masquerading as the Highland Jaguars, have clawed their way into contention for the Great Britain Super League after their fighting 4-2 victory over the Caledonian Cougars in midweek. The Jaguars still trail tournament favourites Pennine Pumas by five points, but the Scots youngsters have a game in hand and the sides clash in the opening fixture today at Peffermill.

This weekend the Jaguars have a double header, first the top-of-the-table clash with the Pumas followed by the Welsh side Celtic Panthers on Sunday.

The Cougars, mostly made up of Scotland senior players, play the Welsh outfit today with the Saxon Tigers the final opposition. Manager Eugene Connolly observed that failure to take chances was the reason for their downfall against the young Jaguars side in midweek, so that will be the target this weekend.
