Hockey: Glynhill well beaten in hockey’s Euroleague

GLYNHILL Kelburne were no match for the German side Uhlenhorst Mulheim, who progress to the quarter-finals of hockey’s Euroleague on Sunday following their 5-0 victory.

The Scottish champions conceded a penalty corner in only five minutes and Thilo Stralkowski fired a powerful drag flick into the roof of the net off Mark Fulton’s outstretched stick.

Chris Ruhr then beat two defenders and sent a reverse stick shot past Fulton. Johannes Schmitz scored a third and Ruhr added a fourth just on the interval with a well taken goal.

The Germans found the net again through Schmitz, whose powerful strike seemed to go through Fulton into the roof of the net.

Meanwhile, in a catch-up Arthur McKay Scottish Cup tie, second division leaders Dundee Wanderers finally saw off Dundee University with a late strike by James Weyers from the spot. This result sets up an all-Tayside quarter-final tie with city rivals Grove Menzieshill.
