Hockey: American visitors swept aside by Grove Menzieshill

Grove Menzieshill marched into the final of their own tournament at the International Sports Centre in Dundee with 5-2 and 7-4 victories over, respectively, American Eagles (5-2) and Team USA.

Against the Eagles, Chris Wilson put the Scots in front, with Gavin Tomlinson making it 2-0. Menzieshill sealed the contest with further goals from Michael Ross and Gavin Byers from a penalty corner. Pat Harris opened the Americans' account, but the comeback was stifled when Wilson got his second of the match. Harris scored a late consolation.

In the second fixture, Team USA took an early lead, but Wilson scored a quick double and the lead was extended to 4-1 through Ross McPherson and a set piece from Kerr Thompson. The visitors hauled things back to 4-3 but goals from Tomlinson, Michael Ross and Byers put the Taysiders in the driving seat despite a late American counter.
