Hibs: Vaz Te's time is up at Easter Road

HIBS BOSS Colin Calderwood today revealed he's intent on further strengthening his strikeforce after securing Garry O'Connor's sensational return to Easter Road.

Calderwood, who will also have speed king Ivan Sproule back in a green and white shirt next season, admitted he never thought he'd pull off O'Connor;s signing.

But now that he has, he's determined to adding further competition for the Scotland hitman and Akpo Sodje, well aware that Hibs paltry return of just 39 SPL goals last season helped contribute to their tenth place finish.

And with Derek Riordan having made clear his intention to play elsewhere following the end of his contract and with Colin Nish and Kurtis Byrne released, Calderwood, who expects to finally complete the signing of MK Dons defender Sean O'Hanlon today, is actively pursuing further strikers.

He said: "It is the one part of the team where we're short - we've almost got more goalkeepers than strikers.

"We've started with a real big signing for a lot of reasons. What we add will be focused on complementing Akpo and Garry up front."

However, Ricardo Vaz Te won't be among those being considered by Calderwood who disclosed he won't be offering the former Bolton Wanderers forward a deal following his ten matches for the club last season.

Vaz Te scored one goal - against Hearts in the final derby - but today Calderwood said: "Ricardo's deal was until the end of the season. He was able to come and help us during the latter stages but when it came to the end we knew we would shake hands and walk away."

Czech goalkeeper Jakub Divis will also not be returning to Easter Road. The 24-year-old arrived on loan from Slovakian club Tatran Presov during the January transfer window, initially until the end of the season with Hibs having an option to retain him until the end of the year.

He played three matches, all of which were lost, and clearly didn't do enough to persuade Calderwood he could offer the required competition for Graham Stack and Mark Brown.
