Hibs' Ian Murray steps in to help Coldstream

HIBS defender Ian Murray has been snapped up by East Seniors outfit Coldstream to aid their battle against relegation.

He has agreed to help out at the Central Taxis Premier Division outfit in a coaching capacity.

Murray, 28, is the first signing for manager Mark Lamb who has agreed to stay with the Berwickshire club until the end of the season after acting as caretaker boss.

The six-times capped Scottish internationalist is keen to get into coaching and has welcomed the Coldstream offer.

He said: "Coaching and management is something I'd like to get into one day and this will give me a taste of it. I'm also putting something back into the game.

"Obviously my own club will come first but I'm free most evenings and will make it along to training at least once a week. If I'm free on a Saturday I'll also try to get to a game.

"I don't know much about Coldstream but I have worked with Mark before and we are good friends."

Coldstream are two points adrift at the foot of the table with just six games to go but the arrival of Murray is a major boost.

Former Peebles and Spartans Juniors boss Lamb said: "I'm delighted Ian has joined us and I'm hoping to bring in one or two new players as well as we try to avoid relegation. If we can win one or two of our next few games you just never know."
