Hibs: Colin Calderwood can't wait for Darryl Duffy and Merouane Zemmama

Hibs boss Colin Calderwood today admitted he's desperate to see long-term injury victims Merouane Zemmama and Darryl Duffy back in action.

Both are making progress but Calderwood revealed he'll have to remain patient with neither likely to feature in the near future.

Zemmama has been out since last March after rupturing the cruciate ligament in his right knee while Duffy broke a bone in his right foot only days after arriving at Easter Road on a season-long loan from Bristol Rovers.

Those injuries, allied to the 1.4 million transfer of Anthony Stokes to Celtic, have left Hibs short-handed up-front, as highlighted only this week with Colin Nish's ankle injury and the automatic one-match suspension handed out to Derek Riordan following his derby day red card leaving Calderwood with Valdas Trakys as his only fit striker for the trip to Ibrox. The Lithuanian turned in an impressive 90 minutes in what was his first start for Hibs and, while Riordan is available for today's match against Motherwell and Nish has returned to training, Calderwood recognises his options in the forward areas are limited.

The return of both Moroccan playmaker Zemmama and Duffy would help considerably, leading Calderwood to say: "The two of them are coming along. It's frustrating not have them available, I'm obviously keen to have them able to play.

"They both play in areas of the team where changes are made more or less when you want to make substitutions. Their experience, quickness, people who can get on the ball and score goals can change the dynamics of our team but until we get them back we are not as powerful or strong as we can be."
