Hibernian win appeal over Liam Miller red card

Hibernian have won their appeal against Liam Miller's sending off in last Saturday's match at Kilmarnock. Miller was shown a straight red card by referee Craig Thomson for kicking the heels of Kilmarnock striker Conor Sammon in the 2-1 defeat.

But the offence has now been downgraded to a caution by the Scottish Football Association's disciplinary department and Miller will therefore be free from suspension and available to play against Aberdeen on Boxing Day.

After a lengthy delay with deliberations over whether the foul was inside or outside the box, referee Thomson consulted his assistant and the fourth official before Miller was sent off.

The offence was deemed to be violent conduct, with Hibs therefore able to appeal the charge.

Hibs manager Colin Calderwood welcomed the outcome of the appeal. He told the club's website: "We are pleased to have Liam available for selection.

"We felt it was right to contest the decision and we are pleased with the verdict reached by the SFA."

Meanwhile, the Scottish Premier League has dismissed speculation Hibs' match with Aberdeen was about to be postponed.

A statement issued by the SPL read: "Following inaccurate reports this morning that the Hibernian v Aberdeen game on Boxing Day is under threat, we can confirm that this game will go ahead as scheduled, unless there is a serious deterioration in the conditions around Easter Road Stadium over the next few days, which we are not expecting and is not forecast."

Clyde fans can now get a say in the running of the club for the price of 30 per year after the club's Supporters' Trust and football arm Clyde FC became the one body. Clyde are now a registered Community Interest Club and fans now have a share in the club that will allow them to vote on club affairs.

A Broadwood spokesperson said: "The move away from the limited company format after over 100 years at Clyde genuinely gives supporters true ownership of this football club as never seen before. It is a new start for the club we all support and a unique opportunity for fans to become a part of its next chapter.

"They can join up and guide Clyde to greater things on the pitch."
