Henderson heads for Kop

Liverpool and Sunderland have agreed terms on a deal worth around £20 million for midfielder Jordan Henderson and the move could be confirmed today.

Liverpool's offer, which is thought to include cash as well as French striker David Ngog as a makeweight, has been accepted and is now subject to medicals on both players.

The Reds were seemingly determined to get their hands on Henderson before he heads off with the England Under-21s squad for the European Championships in Denmark.

The Black Cats had repeatedly stated their highest-profile academy graduate was not for sale but Liverpool's cash has persuaded them to part company with the 20-year-old who made his senior England debut against France in November last year and was a key man for Sunderland in the last two seasons.
