Hearts boss heaps praise on his forward line

HEARTS manager Csaba Laszlo today praised his young forwards Scott Robinson, David Templeton and Gordon Smith, insisting he is happy for them to combine with Christian Nade.

Robinson and Templeton were notable for their industry in Saturday's 1-0 victory over St Mirren, achieved courtesy of Michael Stewart's 22nd-minute penalty kick.

Nade was also heavily involved throughout the 90 minutes, while Smith emerged from the substitutes' bench for the closing stages.

Laszlo has been irked by criticism of his attacking selections this season and stressed he is satisfied with the efforts of all concerned. While awaiting the return of Calum Elliot from injury, he said he is pleased with the response from those in the team at the moment.

"I think the competition in the striker position is there, but the quality must be better," he explained. "We don't expect the two young boys always to change the game, but they can do this. Gordon Smith scored a very important goal against Hibs and Scott Robinson is a very hard worker. Templeton must learn a little bit about using the ball but I am pleased with them all. The young players tried to do their best.

"I am very sad and unsatisfied about the things some people have commented about these players.

"Christian Nade, in the last couple of weeks, was slowly coming back. He has more and more power but there are other things in my mind. I see our daily work and then I give a decision. Football is a game where you must run. Tactically, you must help the team. This is what we try.

"Christian Nade scored goals in the last few games and was an important player. He will be part of the squad and still an important player for the next games if he does not lose the focus."
