Harry Cairney urges crowd to aid Annan's cause

Annan manager Harry Cairney is looking for the local people to turn out in force and offer their support as the Galabank side look to wipe out a two-goal deficit against Albion Rovers and secure promotion to the Second Division.

Cairney's side, who have been in the SFL for just three seasons, trail 3-1 from the first leg of the play-off final, so will need to win by two clear goals just to force extra-time, but they have fought back on several occasions already this term. "We now have a cup final at our ground," said Cairney. "The people in the town back us well as it is but we have the opportunity to create something really special on Sunday and we need them to come along and support the boys. It would be great to get an early goal but we cannot panic if one does not come, as there are 90 minutes available to force extra-time or win the game."

Cairney will remind his players of their performance against the Coatbridge side earlier this season at Galabank when they were a goal down and fought back to win 4-1. "That game may well come up in my team talk as it was our best home win of the season," he recalled.

Albion Rovers manager Paul Martin added: "Winning 3-1 in the first leg was a fantastic result but it left me in a bit of a quandary for Sunday. I went through various patterns but eventually I decided to stick with what we know."
