Hargan swaps playing for SLGA events role

CLAIRE Hargan, a former runner-up in the Scottish Women's Championship, will be running the SLGA's flagship event this year after being appointed as the body's new championship manager.

The 33-year-old from Edinburgh, who lost to Anne Laing in the 2003 final at St Andrews, takes up her new post with the Perth-based organisation next week.

"I was wanting to do something in sport and the post with the SLGA came up at just the right time," said Hargan, a Dundee University graduate who worked in the insurance industry for 11 years. "I'll be involved in running all the major events and it will be a great new challenge."
