Great feat as Bunyan plays in three games on bounce

Scottish international basketball guard Jonny Bunyan will play in three successive games this weekend, twice for the Glasgow Rocks and one for Falkirk Fury, who face a potentially difficult away trip to play Glasgow University at the Stevenson Building tomorrow (3.35pm).

Rocks, still Scotland’s only pro team though hopes continue that an Edinburgh franchise could return next year, open their season in the BBL away to the champions Newcastle Eagles at Northumbria University tonight.

In a surprise move, Rocks could draft in Scotland and Team GB star Kieron Achara in place of their new American signing “Big Man” Meneptha Darden, who has been released to return to the United States with “underlying health issues”.

Achara, who completed a frustrating Olympic campaign, when he hardly touched the court, with an outstanding game v China, is still searching for a club, possibly in Italy and Germany, after being understandably unhappy with his reduced offer from his cash-strapped previous Spanish club Manresa.

Rocks go on to play Durham Wildcats on Sunday at Newton Aycliffe.
